Lyft Inc – Posted a significantly lower losses than expected and reiterated its goal to be profitable on an adjusted basis in the third quarter thanks to continued cost cutting that allowed the company to earn more per ride. Lyft reported an adjusted $73 million first-quarter loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization – a metric that excludes more than $300 million in one-time costs, including stock-based compensation. That is significantly narrower than the $144 million loss analysts expected.
Activision Blizzard Inc – Multiple upgrades on the stock this morning after the company raised its FY sales forecast and reported better than expected quarterly results. Revenue rose 35.7% to $2.07 billion from a year ago; analysts expected $1.78 billion. Activision Blizzard Inc’s reported EPS for the quarter was 79 cents. The mean earnings estimate of analysts had risen by about 7.6% in the last three months.
BIG Tech – Active premarket for the second straight session after Wednesday’s selloff, we saw losses in Apple and Tesla, along with with shares of Netflix that were down 1.2%, and Microsoft tumbled 1.6%. Amazon and Facebook shed 2.2% and 1.3%, respectively. Alphabet fell 1.6% as the Nasdaq led the weakness on the day. AAPL, MSFT, FB, NFLX
General Motors – Reported stronger than expected Q1 earnings driven by strong price and mix performance in North America, strong credit and residual value performance at GM Financial, and the industry recovery in China. Revenue of $32.5 billion while net income came in at $3.0 billion, and EBIT-adjusted of $4.4 billion. The company also reaffirmed its prior FY guidance, as deliveries totalled 1.7m vs 1.45m expected. EPS beats by $1.20.
Nvidia Corp – Updated current quarter guidance to the upside, analysts at Baird initiate coverage on the stock with an “Overweight” rating, saying the stock can still rise nearly 40%.
SKillz Inc – The recent high-flyer reported a quarterly adjusted loss of 12 cents per share in its latest quarter vs expectations of a loss of 10 cents per share. The technology company that provides monetization services to game developers through mobile eSports platform said revenue was $83.68 million; analysts expected $78.58 million. Skillz Inc’s reported EPS for the quarter was a loss of 15 cents.
Ault Global Holdings – Electronic equipment maker reported better than expected results in its latests quarter. Q1 revenue rose 132% to $13m, said Net Income came in at $1.5m.
Athenex Inc – Announced it will acquire Kuur Therapeutics for up to $185 mln. Deal consists of $70 mln upfront payment primarily in ATNX common stock and $115 mln in development milestones.
Ibio Inc – Announced it has resolved its lawsuit with privately-held Fraunhofer USA Inc, and has granted Fraunhofer a paid license to use the protein manufacturing technologies.
Ocugen Inc – Ahead of earnings before the market opens Friday the company updated its current quarter guidance yesterday, the recent high-flyer has also gained attention from recent positive data on a covid-19 vaccine.
