Chinese EV Makers – NIO reported 7931 vehicles delivered in the month of July, a 124.5% increase on a YoY basis, shares are flat in early trading. Xpeng Inc on the other hand is higher after it reported 8,040 smart EVs delivered in July, a 228% increase YoY and a 22% jump from June. Overall, the company has delivered 38,778 vehicles year-to-date, a 388% increase year-over-year. By monthly deliveries, Nio actually came in last among the trio of U.S.-listed Chinese electric car startups with deliveries of 7,931 vehicles in July. Li Auto climbed to the top, saying Sunday it delivered 8,589 Li One SUVs in July, a monthly record. XPEV, LI, NIO

Square Inc – Announced Monday it has agreed to purchase buy now, pay later pioneer, Afterpay Ltd, offering a 30% premium in a share-swap deal that is set to be Australia’s biggest-ever buyout. Multiple analyst moves and notes on the stock/deal this morning with one saying, Square’s all-stock A$39 billion bid (A$126.21/share) marks the potential for Afterpay to achieve an increasingly rapid acceleration in its global trajectory. Share of Affirm Holdings up 8% premarket on the news.

Robinhood Markets – Up 1% premarket on light volume after a lackluster debut on the Nasdaq last week. The stock is set to start the week nearly 6% below its IPO price of $38, the online broker and some executives sold 55 mln shares at the bottom of the $38-$42 marketed range. Robinhood had reserved 20%-35% of shares for its trading app customers, a historically large amount to be allocated to retail investors in an IPO .

Chinese Stocks – Looking to bounce back after last week’s continued selling pressure, mainland Chinese stocks jumped to start the week with the Shanghai composite up 1.97% and the Shenzhen adding 2.245%. China’s regulatory crackdown has sent major Chinese tech names tumbling over the past 2 weeks, online retail giant Alibaba Group on its own has seen $275 billion evaporate from its value amid China’s broad crackdowns. After being valued similarly to U.S. peer Amazon AMZN.O not long ago, it now trades at a huge discount. DiDi Global Inc – Back on watch after an impressive late session rally Friday. The move into the close came even as the company earlier denied a report by The Wall Street Journal that the ride-hailing service was considering buying back its U.S.-traded shares after its June market debut was disrupted by Chinese government orders to overhaul data security.
