Spotify Technology – Higher again after saying Wednesday it would allow the music streaming platform to use its own payment system in its Android app as part of a new pilot program. Users who have downloaded Spotify from the Google Play Store will have a choice to pay with either Spotify’s payment system or with Google Play Billing in some countries in the coming months. Spotify has complained for years about having to use the official payment systems of the Play store and Apple Inc’s App Store.
Meme Stocks – Lower as a group after posting a third straight session of solid gains Wednesday. GME shares are down 4% in early trading after leading the rally earlier in the week, boosted on Wednesday by Chairman Ryan Cohen’s disclosure that his investment company bought 100,000 shares of the video-game retailer, had already risen 30% on Tuesday without any apparent reason. Oil Stocks – Crude slightly lower in early trading ahead of a key special NATO summit in Brussels, which U.S. President Joe Biden will attend, to discuss further responses to Russia’s month-old invasion of Ukraine, which Moscow calls a “special military operation”. JD.com – The company’s logistics arm is looking to raise $1.1 billion from a $700 million share placement with its parent company plus a $400 million primary capital raising, according to regulatory filings on Thursday.
Tesla Inc – Remains on watch higher again premarket holding above the $1000 level. The stock is up more than 20% in a week gaining on momentum as it delivers the first Model Y vehicles from its newly opened Berlin Gigafactory. Separately, Car rental firm Hertz Global has added TSLA’s mid-size SUV Model Y to its electric vehicle fleet.
Uber Technologies – Announced it has reached a deal to list all NYC taxis on its app, a move aimed at helping the ride-hailing giant alleviate a driver shortage and temper high fares.
Nio Inc – Active premarket trading higher ahead of its quarterly earnings due aftermarket tonight.
Nikola Coirp – The company’s shares rose in premarket trade, a day after the company said it had started production of its electric truck. The company, which is also developing a fuel-cell-powered electric truck said it would start production of the Tre BEV truck for the European market at its factory in Germany in June 2023. Traders have a short position on about 27.5% of Nikola’s free float, according to estimates from data analytics firm Ortex.
