Airline Stocks – In focus on the reopen idea but we also got quarterly earnings from American and Southwest premarket this morning. Southwest Airlines reported first quarter net income of $116 million, or $.19 per diluted share, driven by a $1.2 billion offset of salaries, wages, and benefits expenses from the extended Payroll Support Program. Excluding the benefit of PSP Extension proceeds and other special items, our first quarter 2021 net loss was $1.0 billion, or $1.72 loss per diluted share. American Airlines Group meanwhile reported a smaller quarterly loss as rising vaccination rates prompted more people to opt for air travel. The company posted a net loss of $1.25 billion, or $1.97 per share, for the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a loss of $2.24 billion, or $5.26 per share, a year earlier. AAL, UAL, DAL, LUV and ALK also reported.

Cuise Stocks – Back on watch after impressive moves on Wednesday, NCLH led the advances after Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock to a “Buy” from “Neutral” on its industry leading capacity growth. Carnival also announced its Seabourn Barbados partnership will launch summer luxury cruises from July 2021.

Teradata Corp – The mid-cap cloud computing company reported quarterly results that blew past expectations. The data-warehouse software company pre-announced better-than-expected results for the March quarter, as the company continues to make progress on its push to shift more of its business to the cloud. The company said revenue in the quarter will be comparable to the $495 million reported in the 2020 fourth quarter, well ahead of the Street consensus at $449 million. The company said it saw strength “across all its revenue categories with public-cloud annual recurring revenue growth in the quarter up between $16 million and $18 million, ahead of its previous forecast of $10 million to $15 million. Well above estimates on the guidance as well.

MicroVision Inc – Up 6.5% premarket after a solid performance on Wednesday, the rally appears to be the result of increased Reddit chatter around the company, MicroVision was the most mentioned stock ticker on r/WallStreetBets over the past 48 hours, according to Unbiastock.com, meaning MVIS beat out Reddit darling Gamestop and recent participant Clover Health, which has been targeted by retail investors looking for the next big short squeeze due to its 34% short float.

Fisker Inc – Down sharpy premarket after back to back strong sessions, Goldman Sachs lowered its rating to “Sell” after previously having the EV name at a “Neutral” rating. The firm warns on the rush of competition from major OEMS in electric vehicles and Fisker’s relatively late entry to the market. It is noted that by the time Fisker hits mass production in Q4 of 2023, the competitive landscape could be even more daunting. Goldman assigned a 12-month price target of $10. Cowen analysts also cut PTs on the stock.

The company announced yesterday Gisele Bundchen joined the company as a special advisor to the CEO on ESG initiates.

Bionano Genomics Inc – Up 5% premarket after announcing two large laboratories belonging to UK’s National Health Service (NHS) have adopted its Saphyr genome mapping system. BNGO said King’s College Hospital in London and the NHS Regional Genetics Laboratory in Belfast City Hospital are using Saphyr to characterize the genomes of patients with hematological malignancies or cancers that begin in blood cells.

AT&T Inc – Beat Wall Street revenue targets as the reopening of the U.S. economy following pandemic-linked restrictions boosted smartphone sales and the media business. The company added 595,000 net wireless phone subscribers in the first quarter, more than double what analysts had expected. AT&T’s controversial move to make its entire 2021 theatrical movies slate available to its streaming customers at the same time helped the company attract 2.7 million new subscribers for HBO and HBO Max. Revenue for AT&T was up nearly 3% at $43.9 billion, beating estimates of $42.69 billion, WarnerMedia, rose 9.8% to $8.5 billion. AT&T added 235,000 new fiber internet customers, as Americans continued to work from home during the pandemic, driving up demand for home Wi-Fi.

Ford Motor Co – Wolfe Research upgraded the stock to “outperform” on strong growth prospects with a positive note on the entire sector this morning, analysts at Credit Suisse meanwhile also increased their PT on the stock to $12 from $11.

Nikola Corporation – Through its Nikola Energy division, and TravelCenters of America Inc. announced an agreement to collaborate on the installation of hydrogen fueling stations for heavy-duty trucks at two existing TA-Petro sites. This collaboration is a first step for the parties to explore the mutual development of a nationwide network of hydrogen fueling stations.
